Co-curricular activities and extracurricular activities by the faculty and students
Student nurses association (SNA), unit of Dr. M.V.Shetty Institute of Health Sciences was started in 1987 under the president ship of principal Late Prof. K.J. Sabhavathi MSc. (N). Since then our SNA has been an active participant in all national and state level SNA activities. They have always won laurels in the field of sports and cultural competitions. Members of SNA unit work hard to fulfill the objectives and are on the way of progress by adding feathers to the institution. Selection of members to the SNA unit is conducted in the beginning of the academic year under the leadership of the present president Prof. B.V.Kathyayini (Principal).

Arts and Sports
Our students always witness many achievements in the field of cultural and sports. Students also participate in RGUHS intercollegiate literary and cultural competition enthusiastically. Faculty and students are actively participating in the cultural program conducted by MMCA, Gitanjali.

Intercollegiate cultural and sports competitions of Dr. M.V.Shetty Trust Colleges are held in every academic year. It is an occasion for the students to prove their talents and they come out successfully with number of prizes.
 
Seminar Workshops and conferences
Informative and interesting state and national level Seminar, workshops and conferences are organized periodically by the college.
 
International Day Celebrations
The college organizes and participates in various international day celebrations like Nurses day, World Health Day, World Heart day, world Diabetic day, World AIDS Day, Breast feeding week etc. with attractive exhibitions, variety programs and competitions.

In-service education
The faculty updates their knowledge by attending and organizing various in-service education programmes.

Celebrations of the special occasion
Special occasions like lamp lighting, fresher’s day, college annual day, graduation ceremony, farewell functions etc are conducted regularly.
Community oriented programmes conducted by the college
Dr. M.V. Shetty Institute oh Health Science actively participate in many of the community health programmes. It includes pulse polio programme, malaria eradication programme, filarial eradication programme, immunization programme, school health programme and many more.

The institution has adopted Panjimoguru village and provide regular free health services to the people of the village. We also conduct health clinic, thrice a week in Thannirbaavi, which is free of cost.

We also conduct mass health education for the community people with an aim of upliftment of health of the people. During the posting in community areas we maintain a good interpersonal relationship and find out the health problems in the family and plan the intervention according to priority.

At the end of the community health nursing posting, based on the need of community, we give mass health education on the topics such as AIDS, Malaria, Filaria, Family planning, Environmental Sanitation, Tuberculosis, Diabetic mellitus etc.

To make the health education more attractive and interesting, we include role plays, film shows, exhibition, poster presentations etc. during the posting we also render services in the Primary Health Centers (PHC’s), schools and assist in immunization and health check-ups. We also survey the community area allotted and identify the health related problems.
